Charatan Coronation #9593
"Made by Hand in the City of London," with gold rim and gold
band (both stamped '680' and a 'CP' on the band.  Magnificent
grain and a little gem for Charatan collectors.  A Lane Ltd. pipe.
5 7/8" long, bowl 2" high: Weight; 2.41 oz., 68.6 grams. New.
Price. $2750
Charatan Coronation #9604
It might be a combination of the wood size and quality that
created the "Coronation" designation on this pipe.  Across the
top the pipe measures 3 1/2".  That's a big pipe.  Again, it was
"Made by Hand in the City of London" by Lane Ltd.  It has a
gold band and a DC stem.
7 1/8" long, bowl 2" high: Weight; 3.65 oz., 103.7 grms. New.
Price. $2750
Baldo Baldi #1262004
5.5" long, bowl 2.25" high. Weight: 2 3/8 oz. New. Price: $1150
Baldo Baldi #1261968
This pipe has to come close to matching the tightest, 360
degree straight grain that I've ever seen.  I'm not a grain
maven, but when it looks like this, it's hard not to notice.  In
addition, it is not that big or bulky.  The draw sucks (or should I
say, it doesn't suck enough?) but that can easily be fixed.
5.7" long, bowl 2.3" high. Weight: 2 3/8 oz., 66 grams.
New.  Price: $1550

S. Bang by Ulf Noltensmeier in 2006 #1121315 (SOLD 2/22)
Sold originally for $2750 in the Uptown catalogue (I have a
copy if you need it), and going here for $1950.  It is still new.
6.3" long.  Weight: 2 3/4 oz., 78 grams.
S. Bang # 732 by Per Hansen #12174451 (SOLD 2/22/10)
Although the pipe has been smoked, it's pretty much like new,
and it has a wide-open draw.  That silver around the rim makes
it a bit uncommon.  Used.  Price: $2450
6" long, bowl 2.15" high. Weight: 3 5/8 oz., 102 grams.
Dunhill 1950 DRR H #12186544CG
On the side of the shank where it states the DRR H, the
nomenclature is quite clear; on the other side, to see the Pat. #
and the year, you have to look carefully, but it is certainly all
there.  The overall cond. of the pipe is very good and I do
believe the stem is original.  Due to age and use, there are a
few minor dings on the bowl..nothing remotely serious.  Used.
5.7" long, bowl 1.6" high.  Weight:  1 oz., 28 grams. $1350
S. Bang by Per Hansen #1186158BT  (SOLD 2/22/10)
I will remind you at the end, but this is an unsmoked pipe with
beautiful Bird's Eye grain.  For my taste,  this is quite likely the
finest Sven Bang I have ever seen, taking into account the size,
its weight,  the comfortable shape, the grain and the
construction of the stem, and air hole.  New.  Price: $2950
5.5" long, bowl 1.6" high.  Weight:  1 7/8 oz., 54 grams.
S. Bang by Ulf Noltensmeier 2005 #1186174FH (SOLD 12/18
I have never seen a better straight grain on a Bang and I have
rearely seen a better straight grain anywhere.  Add to that the
size of this pipe and it has to be pretty special.  The grain does
not fall off in the front or back of the bowl, either.  The condition
is like-new because the seller quickly realized that although he
could acquire this pipe by selling his Faberge Egg, he was not
worthy and could not justify smoking this pipe, considering his
lowly station in life.  All proceeds go to Mother Theresa. Used.
6" long, bowl 2" high.  Weight: 3 7/8 oz., 110 grams.  $2450
1981 Dunhill Christmas Pipe, Unsmoked #12186498MG
This is number 34 of the 1981 production.  It has the original
card and the presentation box is made of (and here I am
harking back to my retail days of selling cigar humidors) Quilted
Maple.  At least, that is my guess.  It is now merely awaiting the
right collector.  New. Price: $1995
(SOLD 1/29/10)
5.8" long, bowl 1.65" high.  Weight:  2 1/8 oz., 62 grams.
1949/'50 Pat. # Dunhill DRR H #12186536CG (SOLD 4/12/10)
The grain is so fine on this pipe that you have to take it out into
the sun to discern it all.  There are two date numbers, probably
referring to the date made, and then the date released from the
factory.  I can well believe that they were not in a rush to have
this pipe go.  The condition is quite good, if not perfect.  There
are a few little dings on the bowl and I do not believe the stem
is original, although it is a good replacement.  The nomencla-
ture is thin, but legible, at least with a magnifying glass.  Used.
5.2" long, bowl 1.45" high.  Weight:  1 1/8 oz., 31 grams. $1150
Lars Ivarsson #186949 (SOLD 8/17/10)
Here you see a very well grained Ivarsson, but more than that,
a very well shaped pipe.  It is one of those pipes that even
someone as indifferent to Ivarsson shapes as I am finds this the
kind of pipe that looks as though it will grow on you.  Of course,
that might well be a function of the $7000 I need to get out of
this pipe.  That could have an impact on my objectivity. New
5.4" long, bowl 2.45" high.  Weight:  3 3/8 oz., 95 grams. $7500
